A resident of Plainfield, he received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Southern Indiana (Evansville). Hernia Center

Dr. Szotek is a Board Certified General Surgeon specializing in complex hernia repair. As Medical Director of the newly founded Indiana Hernia Center, Dr. Szotek is developing an innovative new web based multidisciplinary practice model with disruptive potential. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Szotek performed the first surgery in Indiana utilizing Google Glass technology to guide removal of an anterior abdominal wall tumor and is currently working to develop telementoring, augmented reality, and virtual reality applications in surgery. On April 12, 2016 he performed the world’s first transcontinental live stream virtual reality hernia repair surgery from Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, IN to Brisbane, Australia. Dr. Szotek graduated with a B.S. degree from IU Bloomington, a degree in Medicine and his residency training from IU School of Medicine, a stem cell research fellowship in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital, and is currently working on his MBA at the IU Kelley School of Business. He resides in Carmel, IN with his wife (Sarah) and 2 boys (Carson 10 & Cooper 8) and enjoys cycling.

Dr. James Richardson is one of the few infectious disease doctors in Putnam County. He earned his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. He finished his fellowship program for infectious disease at Vanderbilt University and has been in practice for over 20 years. Focusing on infectious diseases, Dr. Richardson treats a range of diseases caused by germs, such as influenza, pneumonia, and hospital-acquired infections.

Nephrology

Dr. Nancy Baird is a board-certified nephrologist affiliated with multiple hospitals in Indiana, including Putnam County Hospital. She obtained her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and then went on to finish her internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University. Terry received his degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. Terry has also been trained and completed education as Wound Care Certified, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist, Certified Clinical Instructor, and a Certified Orthotic Fitter. He has a diverse background in patient care as evident in his experience working in a variety of settings including hospitals, nursing homes, and outpatient clinics.


Terry is no stranger to the current and innovative treatment with complex open wounds. Having spent 25 years treating wounds, he has learned the importance of using the most advanced equipment as Qoustic Ultrasound Machine. Terry is very passionate about the treatment of wounds and its possibilities for healing. He strives to help his patients to achieve their goals of healing and his varied background provides the perfect foundation for helping to achieve those treatment goals. Srini has been a physical therapist since 1989 and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Utica College in New York. Srini has been certified as a Manual Physical Therapist from the University of St. Augustine in Florida. He specializes in treating patients with stroke, post surgical, back pain, neck pain, and other joint problems caused by

musculoskeletal disorders.


Srini is also skilled at performing balance testing and endurance testing. Srini lives the professional motto of treating all patients the way he would treat his parents. He has been a member of Tx:Team since 2010.

Sabin graduated from University of Indianapolis with his Master in health sciences degree in 2016. He received his bachelor’s degree in Physical therapy in 2014 from India. His professional goal is to add quality to the life of his patients. He specializes in treating a variety of orthopedic conditions like back pain, neck pain, knee pain, post surgical joint replacements.


He is passionate about reinventing himself as a PT to treat patients with techniques which are based on evidence. Sabin has special interest in manual therapy which makes hands on therapy a major aspect of his practice.

In 2010, Jenny received her master’s degree in occupational Therapy from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI and her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Calvin College. Jenny has experience in the outpatient, acute, and inpatient rehabilitation settings. Jenny’s outpatient experience focuses on treating patients with a variety of hand, elbow and shoulder diagnosis. She also has provided treatment for patients with visual, cognitive, and motor deficits due to CVA or brain injury. Jenny uses a variety of techniques to help patients achieve maximum function including splinting, adaptive equipment training, modalities, visual training, and manual techniques. Jenny also has experience treating patients with lymphedema of the upper and lower extremities.


Jenny enjoys seeing patients gain independence or the ability to perform important activities. She celebrates each success. Even ordinary tasks such as tying shoes, fastening buttons or reaching into a cupboard can be a great achievement following a hand or shoulder injury. Jenny joined Tx:Team in 2012.

Kathy graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN in 1985 with her Bachelor’s Degree, and in 1986 with her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders. She has provided Speech, Language, Cognitive, and Swallowing therapies in a variety of settings including the acute care, outpatient, and home health settings. Kathy is experienced in neurological disorders, including stroke and traumatic brain injuries, and also has experience with all kinds of speech delays and disorders that can affect any ages, pediatric (2yrs) to the geriatric population.


Kathy strives to help her patients improve in areas of comprehension, expression (verbal or written), cognition (attention/concentration, memory, organization, problem solving/decision-making, etc.), and to improve swallowing or increase strength and movement of the oral musculature. Children may be delayed in talking or have sound errors that affect how easy they can be understood by others. Voice disorders and stuttering of speech may also be addressed if needed. Kathy enjoys working with her patients to improve their abilities to communicate more easily, many times to be able to return to work, school, or gain more independence in the home. It is very rewarding to help others, and everyone needs to be able to communicate effectively when they want or need something! Kathy has been a member of Tx:Team since 2015.

Dr. Irwin Malament, DPM is a podiatric surgery doctor affiliated with Putnam County Hospital and other medical facilities in Indiana. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency in Westview Hospital.


Dr. Malament has been in practice for more than two decades now, treating conditions such as Achilles tendinitis, bunion, plantar fasciitis, and other foot and ankle disorders. He also performs bunion surgery, hammer toe repair, nail avulsion and excision, ingrown toenail surgery, and more.

Pulmonology

Dr. Anand Bhuptani is a board-certified pulmonologist and one of the medical specialists of Putnam County Hospital. He graduated from N.H.L Municipal Medical College and then went on to Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center to complete his internal medicine residency program. Dr. Bhuptani finished his fellowship program on pulmonary disease at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has been in practice for about two decades now.

Dr. Ajay Desphande specializes in critical care medicine, internal medicine, and pulmonology. He earned his medical degree from Grant Medical College-Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He completed his fellowship program in pulmonology at Westchester Med Center and has been in practice for 22 years now.


Dr. Desphande treats a range of pulmonary conditions, such as bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, and pneumonia. He also performs an array of procedures, including bronchoscopy, abscess or fluid incision and drainage, and thoracentesis.

Dr. Jessica Myers has been a pulmonary and sleep medicine nurse practitioner with Dr. Anand Bhuptani at Springhill Medical Center since 2017. She graduated from Purdue Global University Doctor of Nursing Practice and also completed her post master’s certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner at Indiana State University. She started her nursing career in 2002. She is board certified as a family nurse practitioner. Dr. Myers sees patients in Greencastle, Terre Haute, Sullivan, Dugger and Washington Indiana. Charles Kiell, MD, FACS, is a vascular surgeon with Franciscan Health and Cardiac Surgery Associates. Dr. Kiell has performed more than 10,000 complex vascular surgeries during his career. He has expertise in minimally invasive endovascular surgery for the management of aortic aneurysms (including treatment for thoracic aortic aneurysms), lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease and venous disease (endovenous laser and radiofrequency ablation). He also specializes in open surgical interventions for stroke prevention (carotid endarterectomy), aortic aneurysms, limb salvage and dialysis access.


Throughout his career he has received numerous awards and honors as a leader and innovator in vascular surgery. Dr. Kiell has been named America’s Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and the Indianapolis Monthly and was first in western North Carolina to develop an endovascular repair program for abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms.


Dr. Kiell received his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School in 1985. He then completed his residency training in general surgery at Michael Reese Hospital and his fellowship in vascular surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Robert McCready, MD, FACS, has been named medical director of Putnam County Hospital Vascular Care and will spearhead the development of a Vascular Care Program to streamline patient care that focuses on innovation, quality, performance, efficiency, value, and best practices. Dr. McCready is a nationally recognized vascular surgeon with Franciscan Health and Cardiac Surgery Associates. He has over 35 years of experience treating patients and performing complex vascular surgeries.


Dr. McCready has received numerous awards and honors as a leader and innovator in vascular surgery. He has been named America’s Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and the Indianapolis Monthly for several years.


Dr. McCready received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his surgical residency and fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He has served as an Assistant Professor of surgery at both the University of Kentucky and the Indiana University School of Medicine and was the recipient of the Resident Teacher Award for three years in a row.


Dr. McCready has authored several research papers, book chapters and served on the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery.

Thomas Webb III, MD, FACS, is a vascular surgeon with Fran Save ciscan Health and Cardiac Surgery Associates. He has over 20 years of experience in treating patients and has performed more than 20,000 complex vascular surgeries during his career.


Dr. Webb has expertise in minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery for the management of aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, venous disease (endovenous laser and radiofrequency ablation) and mechanical-pharmacologic treatment of deep vein thrombosis. He also specializes in open and percutaneous surgical interventions for limb salvage and dialysis access.


He has forged an outstanding career in advanced vascular surgery and intervention. He is a leader in innovative treatment of complex vascular disease combining depth of experience in major surgical procedures with the full spectrum minimally invasive and percutaneous techniques.


Dr. Webb has received numerous awards and honors as a leader and innovator in vascular surgery. He has been named among 100 Best Doctors in America®, America’s Top Doctor by Castle Connolly and the Indianapolis Monthly and was first in Omaha to develop a protocol for complex dialysis access salvage to streamline care. In addition, he was first in Omaha to use aortic endografts during surgery and introduce the use of endoscopic vein harvesting.


Dr. Webb earned his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia. He completed his residency training in general surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and his fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Chicago. He served as the director of vascular surgery at Catholic Health Initiatives Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.


He conducts presentations nationally on minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery and participates in landmark research. Dr. Webb has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Vascular Surgery, and serves as a reviewer for a number of peer-reviewed journals.
