Infection Disease Physician Seeing Patients at Putnam County Hospital

PCHOSP • August 10, 2015

Beginning June 2015, Dr. Jim Richardson will join the Putnam County Hospital outpatient clinic schedule as a representative of the Comprehensive Infectious Disease of Indiana team.  He will see patients every Wednesday afternoon in the third floor outpatient clinic area inside Putnam County Hospital.

Dr. Richardson graduated from the IU School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the IU School of Medicine.  He completed his Infectious Disease Fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 1996 and began his private practice in 2004.

In addition to being a successful physician, Dr. Richardson has received awards including: Distinguished Service award from the Church of the Nazarene for his mission work and the National Medal of Honor from Nicaragua for his humanitarian work.

He has served as the TB contract physician for the Indiana State Board of Health for 5 years and was also on Anthem’s P&T committee for 15 years.  He currently serves on the Hendricks County Health Board.

In his spare time, Dr. Richardson goes on a ministry trip every year to help others through Christian organizations.  He has traveled to over 30 different international countries to provide medical care to those in need.  Dr. Richardson also serves as a Boy Scout leader and raises Shetland sheep.

Dr. Richardson is married to his wife, Melodie, and has three children, two step-children, and one step granddaughter.  He lives on his family farm and has built an open air amphitheater there, which hosted three benefit concerts within the past year.  He plays valve trombone in a blues band and will also hold three charity concerts at the amphitheater again this summer.

Dr. Richardson says that “you are really bless if your children magnify your passions and faith” and although he has traveled the world, he’s proud to call Indiana “home”.
