Gathering recently for a luncheon to kick off their 2016 of wlaking, a group of mostly retirement age Putnam County women renewed their commitment to healthy living.
Women Walk Putnam County, now in its fourth year of existence, will be hosting walks at various places around the county each Wednesday through the end of September.
Having already walked at the DePauw Nature Park on Aug. 10, the group will be back in action on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
Other upcoming walking sessions include: Aug. 24-DePauw Outdoor Track at Blackstock Stadium, Greencastle; Aug. 31-Robe-Ann Park, Greencastle; Sept. 7-Cloverdale Cemetery; Sept. 14-Big Walnut Sports Park, Greencastle; Sept. 21-People Pathways (park at First Baptist Church), Greencastle; Sept. 28-Downtown Greencastle (park at Ashley Square Cinema).
The walks will take place from 8-8:30 a.m. each week.
Sponsored by Purdue Extension and Putnam County Hospital, the program leads into the annual Dining with Diabetes sessions co-sponsored by the two entities.
Dining with Diabetes is set for 10 a.m.-noon each Wednesday in October.
Registration deadline is Sept. 21.
